Well my baby was a high school dream of so many guys back when we were young and daring they drove her 'round in fancy cars with names i couldn't say i was driving one i'd found abandoned at that high school dance i'd waited for her to come around to someone like me them boys they just couldn't hold their drink and there was no forward planning and i watched them fall all around her feet til' i was the last man standing well we danced a little closer and held each other tight while them good ol' boys were gathering i said "i came here for the loving i ain't looking for a fight just don't please misunderstand me" just behind the gates they waited i bet they didn't count on finding trouble like me them boys they just couldn't hold their drink and there was no forward planning and i watched them fall all around her feet til' i was the last man standing all night we drank the wine and we danced a little closer we left that record on it became our song well our wedding bells rang out in the middle of the spring the preacher was her daddy he asked"do you take my little girl to be your everything?" i smiled and said " i do and gladly" then a choir of angels sang when i looked into her eyes when i gave her that ring them boys they just couldn't hold their drink and there was no forward planning and i watched them fall all around her feet til i was the last man standing.
